Split Cart Feature Resource Guide for Sellers
Overview:
The Split Cart feature in MARKAPLACE provides a powerful and seamless way for buyers to shop from multiple sellers while maintaining separate orders during the checkout process. This guide covers how the Split Cart works, the benefits for sellers, and how it simplifies the order and checkout process for buyers.
Key Features:
1. Split Cart During Checkout:
When buyers add products from multiple sellers to their cart, the cart is automatically split into separate carts based on the vendor. Each vendor’s products will be grouped into its own cart.
Only one cart (representing a single seller) can be validated and proceeded with at a time during the checkout process.
2. Separate Orders for Each Seller:
With the Split Cart feature, each seller will receive their own separate order when a buyer completes the checkout process.
This makes order management easier for sellers and admins, as orders are organized by vendor.
4. Seller Discounts:
Sellers can create discounts for their customers, and these discounts will be applicable within their individual carts.
This helps sellers provide promotions and targeted discounts to their customers while maintaining clear order separation. NOTE: If slot pricing is available on a product added to their cart, discount codes will not work.
How the Split Cart Feature Works:
Example Workflow:
Let’s consider an example where a buyer adds products from three different sellers to their cart:
Seller A: 10 T-shirts.
Seller B: 5 pairs of shoes.
Seller C: 2 hats.
When the buyer proceeds to checkout:
split into three separate carts:
Products from Seller A (10 T-shirts).Cart 2: Products from Seller B (5 pairs of shoes).
Products from Seller C (2 hats).
checkout for Cart 1 (Seller A’s products) first. Once Cart 1 is successfully processed, they can move on to Cart 2 and then Cart 3.
Each seller will receive an independent order for their products, making it easier for them to manage fulfillment and shipments.
Benefits of Split Cart Feature:
For Sellers:
Sellers only receive orders for their own products, which reduces confusion and ensures streamlined fulfillment processes.
Sellers can create individual discounts for their customers, providing promotional pricing without affecting other sellers’ products.
Sellers have better control over their sales process, as each order is independent of others.
